I am not going to waste a couple of chapters on ways to protect you against the pitfalls of casino gambling. It is impossible for the ordinary layman to see and know what is going on while playing at a game for money. I am referring to being cheated in card games or dice games. As some of you know this has been put into publications or books, so the public can protect themselves against the men or women that are trying to make an easy living at the public’s expense.
Where anybody eve? got the idea- that a shoe salesman, drug clerk, businessman, white collar worker, or industrial worker could ever catch anybody cheating them - by reading an article , I don’t for the life of me understand. Do you know that cheaters get cheated by smarter cheaters than they are? I knew of one cheater that took a job in a factory, actually went to work for a living. Why? So that every payday he could shoot craps with his fellow workers. After all he was one of them. He lasted quite awhile, until it got a little “hot” for him. He never lost.
Cheaters
Do you know it takes years of practice to be a good cheater? There are some cheaters around that would make a magician’s eyes blink they are so adept in handling cards and dice. Even many an experienced eye in the gambling business system have trouble seeing the moves that takes years of know how, Also, how do you, the poor gullible player that is having enough trouble watching his money and bets, expect to see an expert do a few tricks with a deck of gds or dice. It can’t be done. tars ago the cheaters had a much softer time of it than today. Not as much “heat” on the cheater. All they bad to be were a fast runner or good fighter, because when they were caught they had to pay the consequences. Year’s ago cheaters or hustlers would work clambakes, club postages, smokers, outings and anywhere there was accord. One outfit that worked clambakes would place five or six pair of dice around the area always. Somebody would pick cine up to start a crap game. The cheater’s asset somebody else would start the game.
Average Player
We have a saying that the average player wouldn’t even see a white elephant cross the table they were playing at. They are too engrossed in what they are doing. I worked in a big club in Florida quite a few years ago. One of the bosses, who had been in the business a long, long time and was one of the smartest men in the online casino game, said to me and a couple of other fellows, “I am going to show you how easy it is to beat the public especially at a gambling game where the player is so busy watching his money and bets.” He walked over to a very busy crap game where the dice were passing.
We were using red dice and after the shooter had made another pass he moved in a pair of green dice. Not one of the players paid any attention to it. Even the shooter picked up the green dice and kept right on shooting. He made another pass and missed out.
The boss then moved in the red dice and the game went on. Not one player out of the 20 around the crap table noticed that there were two different kinds of dice used by one shooter. I’ll bet many of you don’t think it’s possible. Well, I’ll bet this has happened to quite a few of you, only with the same color dice, which makes it much easier for the cheater. He wasn’t trying to just prove a point he was only trying to win your money, and succeeded many a time.
